5 Ways to ROCK Your Session
Hey, people! Happy Wednesday! Today, I am coming at you with some tips that will help set you up for a successful session that will ensure that you will ROCK it. Here are 5 simple but helpful pointers that will guide all of you lovely #nataliehelenphotoseniors in the right direction.
Step outside of the box!
Uniqueness is something that I ALWAYS recommend my clients to incorporate! Don’t be boring. Don’t be like everyone else. Yes, it’s okay to have a vision where you incorporate something similar to what others have done in the past, but don’t be afraid to approach me with an idea that you may think is “crazy”! I want your photos to scream YOUR name, not your best friend or your peers’ names.
2. Find a location that will fit your personality well.
Find a location where you’re going to be comfortable. If you prefer to dance and leap through a field of flowers, go to a flower field! If you’re someone who doesn’t even like the thought of going into the city, I wouldn’t recommend you going downtown. If you’re someone who is free-spirited and loves to be surrounded by rocks and trees, let’s head up to Rib Mountain State Park! Whatever is going to help you feel your best and will allow you to be the most you you can be, choose that location!
3. Choose a look that still makes you look like yourself.
Again, your session should be all about the things that make you who you are right now! If you don’t normally wear makeup and would not look like yourself during the session if you had makeup on, I wouldn’t recommend wearing an amount of makeup that’s abnormal for you. The same goes for clothing: if you’re someone who normally wouldn’t be caught wearing a certain style, don’t wear that just because your peers are wearing it! Make sure that the outfits that you are showing in your portraits are representing YOU.
4. Incorporate What Makes You Unique
If that means that you find yourself at the skate park because that’s where you find yourself enjoying your time, If you’re in the marching band + have a passion for it, bring along your uniform and instrument! Whatever sets you apart from your peers (as mentioned above) is what you want to incorporate into your session. If that means that you’re going to bring your volleyball, your paint pallet, or your dog, then that’s what you do!
5. Bring People Who Are Going to Bring out The Best in You!
As much as I hate to say it, there are some people in your life who just flat out make you uncomfortable. If you bring those people with you, it may result in you tensing up and not looking your best. That being said, bring whoever you know is going to bring out the real, beautiful, natural smile you know you have!! Whether that’s your best friend, significant other, a close sibling, or family member, they are all welcome! Try to limit it to a few people though as many people can cause quite a distraction and the last thing we want is for you to feel overwhelmed.
Well, lovelies, that’s that!!
Do you still have questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out here! Everyone has questions and there’s no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your portraits! I’d be more than happy to chat.
Until next week,
Natalie ♥️
